The Book of Revelation Teaches Reincarnation
Part I

Revelation 6:9-11 NIV To most Christians this is a shocking, if not out right blasphemous statement. Reincarnation is one of the lost doctrines of Christanity. The examination of how the Book of Revelation discusses reincarnation will be presented in two parts. Part one shows how the book of Revelation teaches that a Christian's life of good deeds is represented by the symbolism of white robes. Part II is an examination of the true meaning of the resurrections prophecied to occur at the start and end of the 1,000 year reign of Christ and what this means to everyone that has ever lived on the Earth. All scriptures are quoted from the NIV unless otherwise noted.

Part I
The White Robes of The Saints

Because Christians as a whole do not believe in Reincarnation, the meaning of the symbolism of the white robes in Revelation 6:9-11 escape them.

Revelation 6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

What is not obvious is that the receipt of a white robe is symbolism of a special life opportunity being given to the saint. It is symbolic language of being allowed to incarnate in special circumstances and also the opportunity to serve God during that life. Why the symbolism stands for a life will be made clear when other scriptures are examined. The Bible explains itself and it symbols. The symbol of clothing and the state of the clothing is a representation of the acts performed during a person's lifetime. Examining other scriptures in the book of Revelation make this plain.

Revelation 3:4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white.

Revelation 3:18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

In the previous two scriptures, God was sending a message to churches in Asia to overcome sin. The act of overcoming sin is accomplished while one is alive. The symbolism of white robes is plainly a reference to the actions of an individual while they are alive. So, the saints in the vision of John who are given a white robe, is a reference to their opportunity to live a life during the time they are waiting for Christ to return to Earth and set up his Kingdom. The symbolism of robes, as it pertains to the actions of individuals while they are incarnated on Earth, is also presented in John's vision of the inumerable multitude just before the return of Christ.

Revelation 7
The Great Multitude in White Robes

9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
"Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb."
11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:
"Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!"
13 Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes--who are they, and where did they come from?"
14 I answered, "Sir, you know."
15 And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore,
"they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
16 Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat upon them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

This is a prophecy that declares that just before the return of Christ, that millions of individuals from all over the world will repent of sin and accept the sacrifice of Yeshua (Jesus) as payment for their sins. Some would argue that these white robes do not represent the physical lives of the individuals because they are standing before the throne of God. It could be argued that the robes must be something wore in heaven. However, there is another prophecy that uses similiar language which speaks of individuals who are alive on the planet doing the will of God. This same prophecy also refers to these individuals as being before the throne of God as they live out their lives doing his will. The prophecy I am referring to is of the two witnesses.

Revelation 11

The Two Witnesses

1 I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there. 2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months. 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth." 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6 These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

Most Bible scholars agree that these two witnesses will be on the Earth just before the return of Christ. Just as these two special servants of God stand before the throne of God as they live out their lives, so do the inumerable multitude as they wash their robes in the blood of Christ.

In case their is any doubt whether or not the symbolism of white robes or clean clothes refers to acts while alive, notice the plain language of the prophecy of the coming marriage of the lamb to his bride.

Revelation 19:6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
"Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear."
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

The King James Version presents verse 8 as "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. KJV"

In the plainest language yet, the Bible interprets itself. The white robes given to the saints stands for righteous acts. Now that the symbolism has been made clear, Revelation 6 can be understood.

Not only are these souls given another life as they wait for Christ to return, they are given a life where they perform righteous acts. In other words, they incarnate as servants of God and actually help to spread the good news of the coming Kingdom of God.
